For Rita (Anita Rover), unlike most people, sleeping has always been a superfluous activity. Tonight, after having an excellent second date with Alice Drake, she can't sleep and only wants one thing: to go home, alone, to be quiet. Rita is an insomniac, lives and works alone from home. Her passions are old silent films and writing. However, don't be mistaken, Rita likes to go out with her friends and share her bed with men or women depending on her mood.
As for finding sleep, she has tried everything, read all the books on the subject, tested all possible and imaginable remedies, but so far, none have been truly effective. As a last resort, when she REALLY can't sleep, the only solution she has found is to go for a run. There at least she can run peacefully in the empty streets. Tonight, when she went out, she ran into her new upstairs neighbor. He must think she is a bit crazy.
Running at night allows Rita to free her mind, to imagine where the strangers she might encounter are going, where they come from. Tonight, it mainly allows her, around a corner, to remember her meeting with Alice during an evening in a bar. The two women got along immediately and decided to spend the night together, without really knowing anything about each other. They just wanted to enjoy the moment and each other's bodies, without pressure, just to satisfy the desire they felt for each other.
A few minutes later, she crosses paths with Alice Wilde. The pretty blonde is waiting for her bus to go to work. Alice is employed as a cleaning lady in a large company and, like every evening, when the offices are almost empty, she runs into Sam Bourne, who, as if by chance, always stays late to finalize a presentation. Alice has always had a crush on him but has never dared to approach him. Today, everything will change. Before going home, she joins him in his office, simply dressed in a lingerie set that hides nothing of her perfect figure and leaves no doubt about her intentions. Who could resist her?
Ariana Cortez, a seasoned burglar, understands this well and prefers to operate quietly, limiting the risks of being caught in the act. Tonight, however, she will be caught red-handed by Max Deeds, the security manager. Resourceful, she will quickly find a way to stay free.
While she thought she was alone in the deserted streets, Rita almost gets run over by Selva Lapiedra, an ambulance driver rushing to the scene of an accident. Arriving too late, she unfortunately will not be able to save the victim. To console herself, she decides to go have a drink in her favorite bar. There she meets David Perry, the police inspector who came to the scene to make the report. They have known each other for a long time and, as often, the two lovers know how to relax after a trying night.
As she returns home, Rita is jostled by her neighbor Luke Hardy, who himself went out for a run as usual before going to work. He offers to take her to the hospital to make sure she is okay. Back home with a simple sprain, Rita invites him up for breakfast and to get to know each other better. Strangely, Rita will prefer to take care of her neighbor rather than the croissants.
